The images depict some of the books that were, at some point, banned in Canada. To our knowledge, the banning of books is not occurring anymore, the last incidents being around 2010.

6261 is a zine/catalogue by
kimura-lemoine conceptualized as a companion piece to hir project 6161. Designed by B&D Press (Eloisa Aquino and Jenny Lin). 2018.
The participative project includes a video and photographs. It deals with “the sense of belonging among eleven Montreal residents who share their immigration experience, local or international [and] their understanding of elsewhere, others and globalization. Documentary #6261 proposes an artistic vision of the city of Montreal at the intersection of the hybrid identities of the people who live there.”

This book was created for The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History’s “Queer Book Dioramas,” an exhibition on books that have been meaningful or that have contributed to the formation of the artistis’ queer identities. Peer through the glasses and share a first-person vantage point in Lin’s reading of Jack Halberstam’s Female Masculinity.
